About Us

We are Shannon and Megan Scott, the new owners of TASTE South Burnett, as of Wednesday 23 June, 2010.  Our passion for Kingaroy and the South Burnett region was ignited a few years ago, when we ventured to the Bunya Mountains and Kingaroy for a romantic weekend getaway. Soon after, looking for a suitable venue for our wedding, we chose Kingaroy for its laid back charm, amazing food and wine, friendly locals and beautiful country vistas. After many visits before the wedding (in April 2010), Kingaroy began to feel like a second home to us, and we were very eager to relocate permanently.

As fate would have it, on the morning after the wedding, Shannon happened to be flicking through the local paper and spotted a small "For Sale" ad for TASTE South Burnett, and the rest, as they say, is history! We had been loyal customers of TASTE South Burnett for some time (the "Bunya Black" cheese and delicious fudge is particularly addictive), so when the opportunity arose to take over such a wonderful business we jumped at the chance. With our passion for food and wine, coupled with our enthusiasm and desire to show off this fabulous region, we hope to showcase the the very best in local and regional produce, and try to support South Burnett services and producers in all aspects of our business, thereby supporting the local community. As we intend to run the business together (with the help of our wonderful staff members) on a day-to-day basis, feel free to drop in and say hi!

HISTORY

The business was founded in July 2008 by Bronwyn Bisley, leasing a wonderful old distillery on the Booie Range. Opening as a Fudgery and giftware emporium, in conjunction with a conference facility, "The Old Distillery" was born. After 8 months of hectic trading, the opportunity arose to relocate to the Kingaroy Cheese Cellar Door. Along with the relocation came a name change to "TASTE South Burnett" to better reflect the diversity of the business.
